Series of inkjet prints done in 2002, as part of my Masters degree. The images come from a poster created by the Vancouver police during the early concerns for the missing woman. The images were complied from mug shots or by images given by the families. The poster was notorious for its lack of sensitivity. The second element are a series of dot patterning for a face recognition method employed by various ‘authorities’ Its claim to fame is that regardless of changes to the face of an individual someone attempting to identify someone could match up a significant number of the dots and be able to identify the person. The circles reminded me of Baldessari circle interventions on the picture plan as well as bullet holes, or rather holes in the system, as well as work by Warhol and by Willie Doughtery.
